About Women's Premier League (WPL)
The Women's Premier League, launched by BCCI in 2023, is India's first professional women's cricket league. Five franchises — MI Emirates, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants — operate year-round. WPL has created entirely new coaching, medical, analytics, and operations roles focused on women's cricket, which barely existed as a professional employment category before the league.
